5/6/13: Smiley is a very friendly and good-natured guy. He's a 5 year old Pit Bull/Pointer/Lab mix. He's a good-looking dog with a brindle and white coat, bright eyes and a great smile.
Smiley loves people and he absolutely loves to play fetch. Be sure to watch his video!
Smiley is a very bright dog. He knows some obedience commands and is a fast learner. He walks nicely on a leash--we've noticed that even when he sees other dogs nearby he does not get distracted or pull. When Smiley's not playing fetch, he's actually a calm guy and he enjoys just hanging out with people and being loved on.
If you have a dog you can make arrangements with us to bring your dog in to meet Smiley so that we can determine if they'd get along in a home together. Smiley gets along with some but not all dogs. He'd do best with a calm dog.
Smiley has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. He weighs 40 lbs. He's been with us for a long time and we'd love to find a forever home for this fun and friendly guy.
We transferred Smiley to our shelter from the KCK Animal Control shelter. He was in the city shelter because his owner lived in KCK where Pit Bull mixes are illegal due to a breed discriminatory ban.

Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, 5 lbs of Science Diet, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!
> Please note that most of our dogs do require a fenced yard, although there may some who are appropriate for apartment living or circumstances where a fence may not be required.
